I thought readers might appreciate this.

It’s unfortunate when some great actors, who in their time play many parts, are reduced to one role or genre. Perhaps this is true of Patricia Routledge one of the great English Dames who died last week.

You’ll never think of her in the same way again after you savour her reading the King James translation of Chapter 20 of the Gospel of John.

  2. A very moving reading that evokes deeper meaning from this foundational chapter of our faith. Pure artistry of the language with nuance, pause, glance, inflection, silence. We must treasure these human gifts which no AI could ever replace.

  4. Wow! And she’s a woman – someone should forward it to the men who make all the decisions in our church. Pause for thought – how many of the gifts which women have to share are being lost because our church chooses to deny them equal opportunities with males.
