Fra Angelico

Perhaps the best known artistic representation of today’s feast of the Annunciation is the fifteenth century Fra Angelico fresco from the Convent of San Marco in Florence.

The image above is not the one you see today in Florence since it is now in Madrid.  The image from the “Annunciation” posting is the San Marco one. You can tell the difference between them most easily by the presence of Adam and Eve in the Madrid image. (These two were not his only Annunciations).
