the shores of the lake

I am sitting in the bar with a few of our group after dinner.  A chance to update the blog while, over a drink, the group share comments about the events of the day during which we visited:

  • the church of the primacy of Peter
  • The church of the loaves and fishes miracle with Mass at an outdoor chapel on the shore of the lake
  • journey across the Sea of Galilee to a Kibbutz (Nof Ginasaur) where a lunch of “St. Peter’s fish” was served to us.
  • then to Chorazin, and Capernaum.
One of the group just commented that today was a more simple day than earlier days – a day focussed on Jesus since every place we visited was focussed on the territory around the lake that was the heartland of Jesus’ ministry.

Every place we went to today had at least one major Gospel reading associated with it. At each place we read the appropriate scripture.  We know this will change the way we hear these scriptures for the rest of our lives.
