Mar 6, 2012

An interesting interview this afternoon on Radio New Zealand. Fr. Merv Duffy, Dean of Studies at Good Shepherd College, Auckland, was interviewed on the topic of gay ‘civil unions’ and ‘marriage’.

  1. It struck me in listening to the interview that the definition of marriage as the union of a man and a woman to produce children was misunderstood by the participants
arguing for the right of same sex couples to be married. They claimed that because same sex couples could “have” children that they were not excluded by that definition. But same sex couples cannot “have” children in the sense of producing them together.
