New Year’s Day

Dec 31, 2012

New Year’s Day is celebrated as the Feast of Mary the Mother of God.

In this Year of Faith, this specially written Icon, (commissioned by Bishop Barry Jones) “Mary, Mother of the Church is visiting each parish of the diocese.

From Pope Benedict XVI’s homily on New Years day last year, 2012:

“in the face of the shadows
that obscure the horizon of today’s world,
to assume responsibility for educating young people
in knowledge of the truth,
in fundamental values and virtues,
is to look to the future with hope”.
