Archbishop John Dew is representing New Zealand at the Synod on the Family in Rome this month. The synod is unprecedented in its wide-ranging and thorough consultation and participation. Archbishop Dew comments that 25% of the New Zealand respondents are Catholics who no longer participation in Sunday Mass. Such breadth of contribution ensures that a variety of joys, hopes, griefs and anxieties around marriage and family life are presented and heard.
