Humans are made for freedom which is why we react so strongly against anything that appears to limit our liberty.

However our understanding of freedom is often very impoverished.

Freedom is not about being able to do whatever I want to do whenever I want to do it. This is a definition of anarchy.

Freedom is about maturing into the fulness of who God has created me to be. Thanks be to God I do not have to create or invent myself. That would be constant hard work involving impossible daily decisions.

When we realise that God loves and provides for us much more than we could ever love or provide for ourselves we become truly free and are able to relax and let go of false securities…
