God’s resolution

Dec 31, 2024

.

It’s New Year’s Eve…

…and I am not making any resolutions.

Instead, rather than take the initiative and make decisions for the new year myself, I’m going to savour the resolution that God makes for me.

God has resolved to love me, to guide me and even to carry me through whatever happens in a day and in the year, through every circumstance, the ups and downs, each encounter with another, the joys and hopes, the griefs and anxieties of life.

Now there is a resolution I need, not any resolution I might make, but God’s resolution.

And as I write this I want to savour this fact in every moment.

To quote Jimmy Carter (1924-2024) “You just have to have a simple faith.”

Sculptor – Eric Kilby

  4. I find so often, that when I feel discouraged if I’m stuck pulling myself out of it, God sends another person at just the right moment. It’s happened so often, I have grown to trust God. The opposite is also true, don’t neglect those close to you or even the stranger! Outcome? Joy! (thanks John for noting the sculptor. I loved the sculpture. Ellen

  8. Thanks John how wise. Yes Jimmy Carter had some memorable quotes. Another I like but less pithy than above is:
“I have one life and one chance to make it count for something. I’m free to choose that something … my faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I can, whenever I can, for as long as I can.”
