God is jolly good

.
It was a serious moment at Jack’s 90th birthday celebration six years ago.

We sang as he cut the cake then someone began “For he’s a jolly good fellow.”

Jack stopped us, pointed upwards, and began our song with his own lyric: “For GOD’S a jolly good….”

The photo was snapped as he corrected us.

Yesterday I shared a reflection at his funeral. You might like to click on the image to listen.

  5. Thnx Fr John,
I did meet Fr Jack, only once, at a healing seminar out of Christchurch somewhere. I went to confession/reconciliation. He would be among the most memorable of priests I’ve been to for “healing.” He was sooooo in touch with God, it was beautiful. Reminds me of other priest’s, as they age they become God’s angels. Certainly not putting them on pedestals, but I guess lives of true prayer change lives. There’s hope for us all. God bless you this is a very moving tribute to a simple, kind, gentle, caring man of God. Your tribute brought tears to my eyes.
    Thank you John.

Thank you for your moving words and tribute. I was rather overcome by them as we remember Father Jack and his wonderful life as a Priest here in Canterbury. We have all benefitted by his life. RIP Father Jack.
