During our conversation we referred to the practice of making a throne with the hands to receive the Eucharist – first mentioned by Cyril of Jerusalem (more at this link), and the morning hymn “The Deer’s Cry” at this link.

And here is the encyclical letter of Pius XI inaugurating this feast in 1925.
