This Sunday Pope Francis will proclaim two of his papal predecessors, John XXIII and John Paul II to be saints. Note the careful wording of that sentence since the church and the pope cannot make saints. Only Christ makes saints. All the church and the pope can do is be aware of what Christ has accomplished in the life of a pilgrim and announce that fact to the world.
