Pitt Island

Dec 8, 2014

It is now Monday morning and Bishop Barry Jones and myself have spent the weekend on Pitt Island. There is no Church further from Jerusalem and Rome than Our Lady of the Antipodes on Pitt, and our visit was an inspiring reminder that faith in Jesus Christ has indeed reached the end of the earth. Our visit was even longer than anticipated since rough weather made it impossible to make the Cessna flight back to Chathams yesterday meaning we happily waited until this morning to leave Pitt.

The photos below give a taste of our visit including the flight over, celebration of the Mass, the bishop visiting Our Lady of the Antipodes Chapel, the bishop with Taine whom he had just confirmed, and the landing back on Chatham this morning.
