I am privileged to count as a friend Archbishop David Moxon who this week completes his term as the director of the Anglican Centre in Rome and the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Representative to the Holy See.

David is also good friend of the Catholic community of New Zealand. Last year in Rome we shared a slow meal together at a favourite little back-street cafe. As always the conversation was inspired. I often think that David understands us Catholics better than we do ourselves. His perspective is broad, – Christ-centred and truly catholic.

On several occasions I have noted in photos the evident friendship between Pope Francis and Archbishop David. It certainly shows in this photo from last Friday at their last (of many) meetings.  David and Pope Francis both arrived in Rome to each take up their new positions in the same week in March 2013.
