doorstep surprise

I arrived back home yesterday afternoon after Masses at Cheviot and Culverden to find a box on my doorstep. I could never have guessed what was inside.

Someone (I have no idea who) had left me a complete set of Thomas Aquinas’ Summa Theologica in 22 volumes! I am very curious about who left it but most of all very grateful. Thank you!

So in the future you can expect bits and pieces from the volumes to appear in these posts. And, strange that this gift arrived today, the Feast Day of Thomas Aquinas!

Here is a starter for the week that sees many people returning to work and study here in New Zealand after the summer vacation:

  1. Wouldn’t it be great if we taught Aquinas’ teachings as a subject at secondary school. How much more equipped for life would our children be!
