just one thing

.

Perhaps the heart of all our human anxiety is that we seek many things, when we are made for one thing, one God.

It is significant that the first Old Testament commandment, and the one repeated and emphasised by Jesus in the gospels, is the call to have ONE God.

How do I know who or what is my God?

Anything or anyone I cannot let go of has become my God.

When I allow the One God to be the ONE thing I seek, everything and everyone else falls into place.

Try this today and note the difference you experience, even in one day.

.

One thing I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord.
.
The Lord is my light and my help;
  whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
  before whom shall I shrink?
.
One thing I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord.
.
There is one thing I ask of the Lord,
  for this I long,
to live in the house of the Lord,
  all the days of my life,
to savour the sweetness of the Lord,
  to behold his temple.
.
One thing I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord.
.
I am sure I shall see the Lord’s goodness
  in the land of the living.
Hope in him, hold firm and take heart.
  Hope in the Lord!
.
One thing I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord.
.

Assumption

. I am sure that most of the thousands of homilies and talks focussing on the Assumption will recall only on Mary’s yes to God, the Annunciation.  These homilies may be very good. But they miss the point of Mary assumed body and soul into heaven. So, why do we...
