church building 102

Aug 2, 2014

If you haven’t yet had a chance to read the post “church building 101” you might like to take a few moments to do that before you savour the selection of video clips on this page.

Denis McNamara has prepared a series of Youtube clips on different aspects of Church architecture and building. On this Youtube page there are also a couple of his more substantial lectures.

His brief-clip series of ten reflections are easier to find collated at this link.

The first clip of just a couple of minutes shows Denis commenting on the architecture of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Christchurch, on his lecture tour to the diocese in August 2013. You can find the clip at the stuff.nz page at this link.

  1. This Denis chappie is no relation, but good luck to Christchurch if it wishes to rebuild its cathedral. However, World War Three might put paid to that – showdowns looming on many fronts. Let’s hope any Catholic rebuild won,t earn the acrimony the Anglicans have received.

    • I have no idea about whether it is possible to rebuild the Catholic Cathedral or not. However what I do know is that whether or not it is rebuilt, or replaced by a new Cathedral, it is possible to do this harmoniously only if we stay focussed on Jesus throughout the whole process. We tend to think of one option or another, but in discerning, Christ reveals to us much more diverse and richer possibilities than we could ever ask or imagine.
