faith & commitment

Sep 23, 2016

This afternoon’s diaconate ordination was a wonderful celebration of faith and commitment in this year of mercy as Cardinal John Dew emphasised in his homily. Cirilo, one of those ordained is from the Archdiocese of Wellington and three are from my home diocese of Christchurch: Alister, Graeme, and Huynh.  A great contingent from Christchurch and Wellington made up a good number of those who filled Sacred Heart Church in Ponsonby to overflowing.

Food For Faith’s first foray into live streaming went well given the limited equipment we work with. Jason McTague is the other part of the FFF team and it was his technical skill that made the live stream and the video clips you will see tomorrow possible. Hopefully in the future we will be able to have better picture and sound quality in the streaming with more than one camera angle, but a number of people have already commented on how grateful they were to take part in the event from their homes. Unfortunately the sound system in the church kept cutting out through the ceremony so people in the church at times did not have much better sound than our home viewers.

There will be more photos of the ordination ceremony uploaded with some video clips to the Food For Faith Facebook page. Check in for these later tomorrow (Saturday)
