  1. Thank you Father John for a wonderful way to start a new week and a new month, and may I also have the courage of Mary to answer God’s call, to be the person he wants me to be.

  2. We can see where Pope Francis (his feast day too) gets his constant message, perhaps even more appropriate in the face of a humbling virus: “Do not be afraid”

  3. Strong and beautiful messages today. The children’s voices praying the rosary brought me back to our family rosary time after dinner and how we learned everything about the Jesus story, as we wound our beads through the decades and how it became so natural to pray for others in their need. Very cool.

    • What Joy. The memories of family Rosary over 60 years ago. The children in the background, chatting put a smile on my face as my mother would look sternly at one of us 7 children if one should dear to speak.
This is a beautiful way to celebrate the Rosary. Thank you.

Today is one such day, not only because of the thought I share but even more in the comments that are added by FFF readers. Today I have left some of last year’s comments helping us to appreciate the power of today’s readings.

The heart of the home in years past was the hearth.
It was at the hearth that the family gathered for the warmth and light of the flame and the food that was prepared there.
The fire was treated with respect since the same flame which provided energy for the home could just as easily destroy it.

I’m not sure if children today are told the great story of the Emperor’s New Clothes, but if not let’s make sure that the parable is taught at all schools of higher learning.

A few years ago I discovered the wonderful way that God uses my imagination in my prayer.
Such openness to imagination when seeking God does not take us away from reality into fantasy but instead brings me into what is most real and inescapably personal and intimate.
